Used Oil and Burner Fuel

Note: Beginning immediately, Rice will be re-directing more and more of its used oil away from the burner market and towards a more sustainable approach: re-refining the used oil back into a 100% recycled base oil from which to make new lubricants.

In addition to the collection, recycling and environmental disposal services of MyGeneration, we also provide our commercial, industrial and automotive customers with a value priced supply of burner fuel to fire their used oil burners to heat their buildings and/or industrial processes.

Before we talk price, however, lets review a couple key EPA requirements for those with used oil burners that need more used oil to heat their building than they generate.

Ohio EPA regualtions state that as a generator of used oil you can only burn what you yourself generate on-site; however, if your furnace (used oil burner) is 500,000 BTU's or smaller and the product that you want to purchase from an outside source has been tested and meets EPA requirements that it is on-spec, non-hazardous used oil, then you can purchase and burn that used oil to heat your building.

Proof: in order to protect your personal and corporate assets from an EPA claim, before you buy the used oil, you want to obtain a certificate of analysis that proves the used oil you are about to buy and burn falls within the acceptable ranges set by Federal and Ohio EPA for non-hazardous, on-spec used oil.

Rice also markets, sells and installs used oil burners.

Getting some free used oil from a buddy or business down the street

One business we heard about sent an employee down the street to another business that generated used oil but didn't have a used oil burner. Rather than pay to have it hauled away by a used oil collector they figured they'd give it away for this other business to used in their used oil burner. Problem was, and no one knew this until it was too late, there was a small amout of gasoline in the used oil drum. When this used oil was feed into the burner the fumes ignited and there was not a small fire.
